What is Broadway Bound?
Our Work
Broadway Bound is a one-week theatre experience where students get to be part of the full process of putting on a show. Each day is split into two parts. In the morning, students rotate through classes in voice, dance, and acting, building real skills they can use right away. In the afternoon, they take what they learned and jump into rehearsals for Once Upon a Mixed-Up Time. It is hands-on, fast-paced, and collaborative, giving students a chance to learn by doing rather than just watching.
What makes Broadway Bound different is the balance between training and performance. Many camps focus only on the final show, but this program gives students the tools to grow while they are creating it. By the end of the week, everything comes together in a live performance at the Millwald Theatre for family and friends. Backed by over 25 years of theatre experience, it is a supportive environment where students can try something new, build confidence, and take real ownership of what they have created.
How the Week Comes Together
Take the stage
Final performance (Saturday night)
The week culminates in a live performance at the Millwald Theatre in front of family and friends. Students step onto a real stage, under lights, and perform the show they’ve built together. It’s not a classroom exercise—it’s a real production with a real audience. That moment of stepping out on stage is what makes the entire week click. This is where it all pays off.
Monday-Thursday afternoon rehearsal
Build the Show
In the second half of each day, students apply what they’ve learned directly to the production of Once Upon a Mixed-Up Time. They rehearse scenes, learn choreography, and begin shaping their characters. The process is collaborative, fast-paced, and hands-on. Instead of separating training and performance, everything connects in real time. This is where the show starts to take shape.
Bringing it together
Friday rehearsal
Friday is dedicated to pulling everything together. Students run the full show, refine transitions, and get comfortable with the flow of the performance. It’s a chance to focus, adjust, and step fully into their roles. By the end of the day, what started as pieces becomes a complete production. This is where confidence really locks in.
Step 1: Train the Fundamentals
Monday-Thursday morning classes
Students rotate through focused classes in voice, dance, and acting, spending time in each discipline every day. This gives them a well-rounded foundation instead of just learning lines. One day during the week, a guest artist joins to bring a fresh perspective and new techniques. It keeps things dynamic and exposes students to different styles. This is where skills start to build.
