Live theatre. Real experiences. Lasting impact.

Learn. Perform. Become.

Our mission

The Red Stag Foundation for the Arts exists to expand access to live theatre and arts education for youth across Southwest Virginia. We bring engaging performances, hands-on workshops, and creative experiences directly into schools and communities, meeting students where they are and inviting them into the world of the arts.

By removing financial and geographic barriers, we create opportunities for every student to experience live performance, explore their creativity, and see themselves reflected on stage. Through this work, we aim to spark curiosity, build confidence, and make the arts a real and reachable part of everyday life.

This is arts in action

We bring live performance, education, and opportunity directly into the communities we serve.

Learn

Start by stepping into it. Students don’t just watch—they take part. Through singing, movement, and storytelling, they get a hands-on introduction to what performing actually feels like. We focus on creating a space that feels welcoming from the start. No experience is expected, and there’s no pressure to “get it right.” The goal is simple: give students the chance to try something new, build confidence, and realize they’re capable of more than they think.

See it come to life. We bring full productions into schools and community spaces, creating an experience that feels real, close, and easy to connect with from the first moment. These aren’t scaled-down versions—they’re complete, engaging performances designed to hold attention and invite participation. Students see what’s possible, then step into it themselves through interaction, conversation, and shared moments with the cast.

Perform

Become

Build something that lasts. This is where confidence starts to grow. For some, it’s just a new experience. For others, it’s the beginning of something bigger. As students continue to engage, they develop skills that carry beyond the stage—communication, collaboration, and self-assurance. What starts as a single moment often turns into a lasting interest, a new goal, or a clearer sense of who they are and what they can do.

Make it possible

For Supporters

Every program we offer—from school tours to summer camps—is made stronger and more accessible through the support of our community. Donations help fund transportation, materials, staffing, and scholarships that ensure students can participate regardless of financial circumstances.

This isn’t abstract. Your support puts real experiences in front of real students. It helps us reach more schools, expand our programming, and create opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t exist in many of the communities we serve.

If you believe in what this work can do, this is how you’re part of it.

Bring the arts to your students

For Schools

We partner with schools across the region to deliver live performances and interactive workshops directly to your students—right in your gym, auditorium, or cafeteria. Our programs are designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and easy to integrate into your school day.

A typical visit includes a fully staged performance followed by a hands-on workshop led by our cast. Students stay engaged, ask questions, and actively participate rather than just observe. It’s a turnkey experience that requires minimal lift from your staff while delivering something meaningful and memorable for your students.

We handle the logistics. You get the impact.

For Students

Step into it

Whether it’s your first time trying something new or you already love being on stage, there’s a place for you here. Our programs are designed to be welcoming, hands-on, and built for real participation. You won’t just watch—you’ll be part of it.

From in-school performances to workshops and summer programs like Broadway Bound, students get the chance to explore acting, music, movement, and storytelling in a way that feels approachable and fun. Along the way, they build confidence, learn how to collaborate, and discover what they’re capable of.

No experience needed. Just a willingness to try.
